Born and raised in a small country town off the coast of Georgia, the youngest of 4 children, I grew up to love the simplistic way of living. Among my favorite activities were going outside shoeless playing the days away, spending warm summer days at the beach, going crabbing and fishing, baking, reading, and writing. From a young age, my parents instilled in me the importance of being grateful for and valuing even the smallest of things. The importance of loving God, my family, friends, and neighbors (near & far) was at the forefront of their teachings. They showed me how to appreciate nature and everything that God had created. They stressed the importance of academics and social awareness and how having a strong moral character trumps having a large bank account.
After leaving my parents’ nest, I attended a 4 year university earning a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. I did a few years in the corporate world as an accountant; but, quickly discovered that was not my cup of tea. I had always been intrigued by the culinary arts, specifically pastry, so I made a big leap and left my corporate job to attend culinary school with a focused study on patisserie & baking. After graduating from culinary school I worked several jobs in the hospitality industry. Additionally, I created a home based business (“Sweet Artistic Expressions") selling various desserts. Drawing upon another one of my passions—writing—I released my 1st children’s book entitled “I Can” in 2019. My subsequent children's books, "Girls Aren't Made of Cotton Candy" and "Grandpa's Love Never Changes" were released in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
The lessons ingrained within me during my childhood and the study of human behavior and interconnectedness has led me to create this blog. Through my blog posts I hope to be able to help those who visit my site see the beauty (opportunity) in even the toughest of life’s challenges. I also aspire to make you reflect upon various topics ranging from self-discovery, to relationships, to love, to economics, etc. Or, maybe I can just make you laugh. You will notice a lot of pictures (taken by me…photography is another one of my hobbies) of nature. Nature is a source of wonder and I find that if you study nature really closely there is always a hidden lesson.
So, I hope you come back often and delve with me into all the aspects that make this world what it is.
